Cliffs in Ink Wash
A landscape reduced to black ink and untouched paper — the cliffs stated in a handful of strokes, everything else given to the white. Ink wash punishes hesitation; these strokes are confident, and the confidence is the subject. One of the studio's teaching pieces, kept because it shows what a brush can do when the painter trusts it.
A spare landscape in black ink, the cliffs stated in a handful of confident strokes.
